From September 2004 there has been some changes in the organization of COM. These changes concerns the competence areas of Optoelectronics and Glass Components and Materials as well as the Modelling activities.
The process has resulted in the formation of two new competence areas under the titles of Nanophotonics and Fibers & Nonlinear Optics.
The Nanophotonics Competence Area is focusing its research on quantum optoelectronics, integrated photonic crystals, quantum dot devices, and ultrafast dynamics. Link to Nanophotonics Competence Area
The Fibers and Non-linear Optics Competence Area is focusing on subjects such as specialty fibers, optical signal processing, biophotonics, and fiber lasers. Link to Fibers & Nonlinear Optics Competence Area
